We organise between 4 and 7 walks each week, with lengths between 3 miles and 20 miles, so there should be walks to suit everyone, from beginners to experienced walkers. Our programme includes flat coastal walks, hilly walks on the South Downs, woodland walks and everything in between. Most walks start within a few miles of where most of our members live in the Petersfield, Waterlooville, Havant and Hayling Island areas.
Non-members of the Ramblers are welcome to come on up to three of our walks to see how well they suit them - we hope, though, that you will soon want to join the Ramblers in order to support the full range of Ramblers aims. If you join the Ramblers you are entitled to walk with any group in the country. Discounts on may be available in some walking equipment shops, and you will receive 3 copies of Walk magazine each year.
The group also arranges walking weekends further afield, for example Dartmoor and Wales, and walking holidays in the UK and abroad. There are some purely social activities such as skittles evenings, quizzes and meals in local pubs and restaurants.
Our Footpath Secretary + volunteers monitor the condition of footpaths in our area, and report problems - blocked paths, broken stiles, inadequate signposting etc - to Hampshire County Council for remedial action. In this way, and others, we contribute to the aims of the Ramblers, and in the process improve conditions for all walkers.
Why not give it a try? We will be delighted to welcome you on a walk.
