Welcome to the website of the SE Hants Ramblers!

We arrange walks each week which usually start within 3 to 15 miles of our members' homes in Waterlooville, Havant, Hayling Island and neighbouring areas. Daytime walks are held every week on Saturdays and/or Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and in the summer months we usually have two evening walks on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Walks range in length from about 4 to 20 miles, and they are graded to give you an idea of their pace and degree of difficulty. We aim to provide walks that are suitable for a range of walking abilities, from beginners who need to build up their stamina, to more strenuous and longer walks for experienced members.

Non-members of the RA are welcome to join a few of our walks to see how well they suit them – we hope, though, that you will soon want to join the RA and our group in order to support the full range of RA aims.

The group also arranges walking weekends further afield, for example Dartmoor and Wales, and walking holidays in the UK and abroad. There are some purely social activities such as skittles evenings, quizzes, BBQs and meals in local pubs and restaurants.

Our Footpath Secretary + volunteers monitor the condition of footpaths in our area, and report problems – blocked paths, broken stiles, inadequate signposting etc – to Hampshire County Council for remedial action. In this way, and others, we contribute to the aims of the RA, and in the process improve conditions for all walkers.

The SE Hants group supports the creation of a South Downs National Park and arranges a number of walks on each programme to highlight areas to be included in the Park.  For more information on the South Downs Campaign visit their website, and details of recent and future walks, http://www.southdownscampaign.org.uk/
